Background

“Women Now for Development” WND is a feminist, women-led, and rights-based organization with eleven years of experience. WND specializes in programs for women and adolescent girls in Syria. Working in four integrated program areas Protection, Empowerment, Participation, Advocacy and Research programs.

WND is looking for a Financial Manager to join its executive team. The Financial Manager will be in charge of overall oversight of the financial team’s performance across all WND offices and projects. They will also be in charge of the everyday accounting responsibilities at the main office. especially The Financial Director will report to the Country Director.

The tasks that they will be responsible for are:

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Financial planning:

    • Financial planning for the organization’s financial needs and possible funding sources.
    • Conduct analysis for the organization financial performance to ensure the optimal use of resources.
    • Provide the management with the necessary financial information to make decisions to reduce financial risks.
    • Consolidate budgets from WND offices and prepare a consolidated annual financial report for the whole organization.
    • Provide opinion and advice on legal issues that have effect on the financial performance of the organization.
  • Daily accounting tasks in the main office:

    • Prepare project budgets and complete financial due diligence files before signing contracts.
    • Review funding contracts and ensure compliance with donor requirements.
    • Ensure the accuracy of the supporting documents before completing the payment process.
    • Updating the database and recording financial transactions on the accounting database.
    • Prepare cash flow plan to ensure the availability of the needed funds to implement the activities and updating it monthly.
    • Perform bank and cash reconciliations.
    • Ensure the completion of the monthly closing process.
    • Follow-up spending on budgets in coordination with programs team and ensure financial coverage for each expenditure.
    • Match balances between WND different offices.
    • Maintain financial archive.
  • Supervision and control:

    • Oversee the performance of the finance team in WNDdifferent offices.
    • Evaluate the financial team and propose a capacity building plan to develop the department’s performance.
    • Conduct periodic internal audits on the financial performance in WND different offices.
  • Audit and compliance:

    • Responsible for coordinating the annual financial audit in the main office and ensure its completion in the other offices of the organization.
    • Responsible for coordinating projects audits in the main office.
    • Ensure the implementation of the financial policy throughout the organization.
    • Ensure the harmony and compatibility of the financial performance in WND different offices and departments.
    • Ensure the application of the policies of other operations departments (HR – Procurement).
    • Ensures adherence to international standards and other guidance on Protection, GBV Services, Child-friendly spaces, child safeguarding  PSEA, community-lead social action, etc., disseminating such information within the finance department and ensuring its application when appropriate within the financial processes and policies.
  • Development:

    • Review and develop the financial policy periodically and ensure they are applied in different WND offices.
    • Developing processes and financial templates.
    • Work with the other departments to ensure processes harmonization between different departments.
    • Develop the work on the accounting system to ameliorate reporting.
  • Internal and external communication:

    • Coordinate with the operations departments managers.
    • Coordinate and communicate with the program team.
    • Communicating with donors – banks – accounting firm – auditors and other external parties.
    • Prepare periodic reports for various internal and external parties.
    • Participates in strengthening internal relationships and consolidated partnerships with relevant actors to advance shared feminist commitments.

 

Skills and requirements:

  • – Master’s degree in financial management or equivalent (accounting – internal control – audit …)
  • – More than 5 years of experience in a similar position, preferably in nonprofit sector.
  • – Well knowledge in using accounting software, preferably QuickBooks.
  • – Well knowledge in using Microsoft pack, especially Excel.
  • – Speak Arabic and English fluently, Turkish considered as assets.
  • – High communication skills, supervision, and management skills.
  • – Ability to define priorities, multi-tasking.
  • – Commitment to feminist values and leadership.
  • – Living in Gaziantep – Turkey (Turkish Citizenship holders is preferred)
