Shadows of the Syrian Disappeared: Testimonies of Female Relatives Left with Loss and Ambiguity

Shadows of the Syrian Disappeared: Testimonies of Female Relatives Left with Loss and Ambiguity

With more than 117,000 people missing in Syria since 2011, the myriad of effects on those near to disappeared persons are rarely chronicled.

This event will include the launching of the report by Dawlaty and Women Now titled ” Shadows of the Disappeared: Testimonies of Female Syrian Relatives Left with Loss and Ambiguity” that tackles the multifaceted and profound impact of the disappearance of a loved one on Syrian women, as well as panel discussions that will draw a comparative approach to the Lebanese issue of the disappeared, through a gendered lens.

The discussions will be complimented by an exhibition that gives voice to the marginalized women and highlights experiences of individuals who have endured the disappearance of relatives.

Note: Simultaneous interpretation into English will be provided during the event.
